UVa head coach Tony Bennett and assistant coach Ron Sanchez traveled down to Atlanta, Georgia, last month for an in-home visit with the parents of Nate Mason , a class of 2014 combo guard.  Mason, who is now attending Montrose Christian Academy (Rockville, MD) after attending Shiloh High School (GA) his junior year, was unable to attend the in-home but will get plenty of face-to-face time with Bennett and company when he takes an official visit to UVa this weekend.

Virginia is one of four finalists for the 5’11”, 165-pound prospect, who is also considering Kansas State, Memphis, and Minnesota.  He has taken an official to Kansas State, an experience he says he “loved.  The players are good. The coaches are good. I had a great time.”

Of this weekend’s trip to Charlottesville, Mason said:  “I really can’t tell what I’m looking for.  I like Virginia too.  The coaching staff has been coming to my practices recently, and the coaches had an in-home with my parents.  [Mason’s parents] liked it.”

Three seniors — versatile Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, VA) wing BJ Stith, Greater Atlanta Christian (Atlanta, GA) combo forward Isaiah Wilkins, and New Zealand center Jack Salt — have verbally committed to the Cavaliers.  As of now only one scholarship spot remains at Tony Bennett’s disposal in this class.
