All weekend long you could see the tidal wave coming.

Saturday Virginia got nine hits, put 18 runners on base and managed to score just four runs going 2-for-14 (.143) with runners in scoring position and leaving 14 runners on base. Sunday Virginia placed 21 runners on base, this time plating seven runs but stranding 13 more. Virginia hit .333 (9-27) with runners on base and 4-15 (.267) with guys in scoring position in its 7-3 win over UM.

Monday, it all came crashing down on Maryland (40-23).

Virginia took just three innings to put Maryland away scoring six runs and may have finally begun to display the type of high-scoring offense everyone expected to see all season. In the end Virginia claimed an 11-2 win, in the process securing its third trip to the College World Series in the last six years.
