Summer Decision Likely For PA Safety

Central Catholic (Pittsburgh, PA) safety John Petrishen burst onto the major FBS recruiting scene this spring. UVa was the first FBS school to offer the 6’2”, 195-pound rising senior, who subsequently has reeled in offers from Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Wake Forest. At least two more major college programs could come through by the end of July.

“Northwestern contacted me and said I was the number two safety on their board right now. Their number one guy is visiting right after the Dead Period, so they should know more after he visits. Northwestern would be a great opportunity as well,” Petrishen said. “Stanford has also contacted me lately. They came to see me in the spring. They have a workout set up on the 26th (of July), so I’m probably going to go out there and see what happens.”

The Dead Period Petrishen mentioned ends this Sunday, July 13. Next week, he’ll likely to travel to Winston-Salem (N.C.) to visit Wake Forest for the first time. A return trip to Virginia could be in the cards as well.

Asked where the Cavaliers currently stand on his list, Petrishen said: “UVa’s definitely at the top. I don’t really have a ranking or order, but UVa, we left really impressed with the school. It speaks for itself when I tell you I will make a return visit. UVa’s really high on my list.”
