At the end of practice on Thursday, August 7, Virginia quarterback Greyson Lambert headed over to Manasquan (N.J.) rising senior tight end/linebacker Tanner Cowley, who was in attendance for the Cavaliers’ preseason practice.
“Greyson came up and challenged me, saying he wanted me to come in at 245 pounds,” recalled Cowley, who verbally committed to UVa on June 3 of this year.
Cowley said it was “nice to see [Lambert] kind of taking charge. At the end of practice, I felt very welcomed. A lot of guys came up to me and introduced themselves. It was nice.”
When Cowley will officially become a Cavalier is a question. He has the grades and he’ll have the classes to enroll in January of 2015, but as of now a decision has not been made. Cowley could enroll early but may wait until next summer. While his enrollment date is in question, the position Cowley is being recruited to play at Virginia is not.
