Hoos Latest To Offer Georgia WR/CB

Gainesville (GA) wide receiver/cornerback Chris Williamson has received a scholarship offer from the University of Virginia.

Slowed by a hip flexor his junior season, Williamson suffered a fractured collarbone this past spring and therefore missed out on the early part of the camp/combine circuit. He was able to attend some camps later in the summer, though, including a Virginia camp in July. Williamson then turned in a quality senior season performance that obviously impressed FBS coaches.

In addition to Virginia, the 6’1”, 185-pound senior also claims offers from BYU, California, Central Florida, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Miami, Northwestern, Southern Miss and Wake Forest, among others.

“The injury I had limited me a lot last year,” Williamson said. “It was an injury I just had to rest to get better. That limited me a lot last year. I had a great senior year. I guess my film speaks for itself.”

Williamson provided his thoughts on the Virginia offer.

“I know it’s a great academic school,” he said. “I’d be set after football by going to Virginia. It’s definitely a big offer and I’d be going to the ACC, so I’d be playing big-time football. That’s definitely a huge offer for me.”

Williamson’s recruitment began heating up in November and has continued to pick up steam in the month of December. Where does he stand in terms of a decision?

“Things picked up really fast, but I’m not feeling rushed,” Williamson said. “I haven’t taken any [official] visits yet. My first visit is to Cal this weekend. I’m going to Wake on the 16th. There is a certain group of schools I’m looking
