UVa head coach Mike London has made his interest level in Stafford (VA) offensive lineman Josh Ball crystal clear.

“He said, ‘You are the top guy for us,’” said the 6’7”, 310-pound Ball, one of the top juniors in the state of Virginia. Ball has visited UVa on several occasions, most recently for spring practice this past Saturday.

“[London] said he wants to keep getting me down to Charlottesville.”

It’s a good sign that Ball continues to give the Hoos a look. At this point, though, the Stafford prospect is looking seriously at leaving the state. While he has not yet officially narrowed his list of schools, Ball listed three out-of-state programs when asked if any schools had caught his attention up to this point in his recruitment.

“Penn State has really caught my eye,” Ball said. “West Virginia and maybe NC State have caught my eye, also. It’s just little things they have that I like that are different from other colleges.”

Virginia was in a stronger position when Scott Wachenheim was offensive line coach, as Ball had developed a close relationship with the new VMI head coach. The talented lineman is getting to know new offensive line coach Dave Borbely.

This past Saturday, “I got to see Virginia’s practice and the intensity of the practice. I got to know Coach London and Coach Borbely a little more, but they didn’t have much time. Coach Borbely is a great coach. I liked how he was in practice.”

What’s next for Ball on the recruiting front?

“I want to start narrowing down my list, maybe after Spring Break. I’m trying to see everything I can first,” said Ball,
