UVa Recruit Ty Jerome’s Terrific Offseason Continues

June was quite a month for University of Virginia-bound combo guard Ty Jerome, who was invited to and participated in the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville as well as the Nike Basketball Academy in Los Angeles. Things keep getting better for the Iona Prep (New Rochelle, N.Y.) product, who learned this week that he will represent the All-EYBL East squad in the Nike Global Challenge, which takes place July 15-18.

Jerome, a 6’4″ rising senior, reflected on a memorable month of June.

“The Top 100 Camp was a great experience. It was great playing against great competition and listening to former pros and some current pros reflect on their careers,” Jerome said.

“The Nike experience was unreal. The competition, the facility, the beach workouts, the pros that were there. It was really unbelievable. At Nike I was fortunate enough to watch film with Trey Burke and Ty Lawson and learn from Kobe Bryant, James Harden, Kevin Durant, and NBA coaches as well.”

Current UVa star Malcolm Brogdon was also at the Nike event.

“I got to catch up with Malcolm. I spoke to him a while in L.A. He was talking to me about what the practices consisted of and the adjustment to the college life, and stuff like that. It was great to catch up and briefly learn from him,” Jerome said.

The future Hoo said “it was awesome” to be on Grounds the week of the Top 100 Camp.

“It was a sneak preview of what the future holds. Can’t wait to get down there for college,” he said.

Performance-wise, “I think I did well at both camps,” Jerome said. “The main thing I learned at both camps was how good I can be when my confidence is at an all-time high. Also, I learned
