Summer is just around the corner and a new class will soon join the Virginia men’s basketball team. Those freshmen will be joining a program fresh off a historic three-year run that saw 89 wins and a trip to this year’s Elite Eight.

How did this year’s Hoos get there? Let’s look back at five preseason questions for the 2015-16 season for some of the season’s top storylines. Read Part I here.

5. Is the post depth ready?

Prior to the start of the season, Virginia knew it had two strong options on the interior with seniors Anthony Gill and Mike Tobey. Each already had played at a high level for the Hoos; as juniors, Gill had a third-team All-ACC campaign and Tobey was the ACC Sixth Man of the Year. Both delivered the good as seniors too as the team piled up 29 wins. Gill earned another third-team All-ACC nod.

Beyond the senior duo, however, UVA had a lot of uncertainty. Isaiah Wilkins looked good in spot minutes as a freshman, but had not logged heavy minutes. Jack Salt redshirted as a freshman and Jarred Reuter was just starting his career. That left only Evan Nolte, a stretch forward that let UVA play small ball, with ‘post’ experience other than his fellow seniors Gill and Tobey.
