EYBL Notebook: Casey Morsell Explodes For 22; Williams Updates Recruitment

Day 1 of the Hampton leg of the 2018 Nike EYBL is in the books. A major story of this EYBL season continues to be Team Takeover (D.C.), which remains undefeated following two dominant performance on Saturday, May 26.

Team Takeover defeated Team Final (PA), 80-56, in its first game in Hampton. The evening wave of games pitted Takeover versus the Las Vegas Prospects. The Prospects started fast with a 9-2 run, but it was all Team Takeover the rest of the way. The final score here was Takeover 108, Prospects 86.

Takeover improved to 14-0 during the EYBL “regular season,” which concludes on Sunday, May 27. An 8 a.m. matchup with the New York Lightning (9-5) and a 5 p.m. contest with Expressions Elite (9-5) stand in the way of a perfect 16-0 record heading into July’s Peach Jam, which settles the 2018 EYBL champion.

They have big-time post players. They have depth. They share the ball. They are tenacious on defense. They can play different styles. Quite simply, weaknesses are hard to find in this motivated group, which includes Virginia guard commit Casey Morsell.
