Holly Springs (N.C.) 4-star power forward/center prospect Kadin Shedrick’s first ever visit to the University of Virginia went so well that he decided to commit just 15 minutes after leaving. His college decision made, the 6’11” senior returned to Charlottesville for an official visit the weekend of September 21-23.

“I feel really good with my decision,” Shedrick said in an interview with TheSabre.com earlier this week. “I’m comfortable in Charlottesville.”
In addition to this being an official visit, what made this latest visit different from the trip Shedrick made one month prior (when he committed) was the opportunity to spend time with the Virginia players (including fellow recruit Casey Morsell) and watch a practice. Shedrick also took in Virginia football’s home win over Louisville.
“I had a lot of fun,” Shedrick said. “I had a great time. I really enjoyed it. I was comfortable with the players. They were around pretty much the whole trip. Jack, Ty, Kyle and De’Andre were hosting us. They were around us most of the time. I felt comfortable with them. They are pretty chill, but when it comes to practice they get after it.”
Shedrick, Morsell and Virginia class of 2020 target Terrance Williams, each of whom were in Charlottesville on official visits that weekend, didn’t play with the team, but they did take the opportunity to use the John Paul Jones arena and “worked out on our own for fun, doing things the [current Virginia players do],” Shedrick said.
The future Hoo big man spent time with Virginia head coach Tony Bennett and staff throughout the week. On the final day of Shedrick’s official, the entire staff joined him in watching his sister attend a softball clinic on Grounds.

“I thought it was really cool that they would go out to the softball camp,” Kadin said. “The whole staff was there.”
Coach Bennett “was really excited I was able to come and spend the weekend there,” said Shedrick, who plans on signing a letter of intent with the Cavaliers during Division 1 men’s basketball’s Early Signing Period next month.
More with Kadin Shedrick
Was there a highlight on your official visit?
“Honestly, [Virginia football quarterback Bryce Perkins], when he hurdled that Louisville player, it was pretty cool,” Shedrick said. “It was on ESPN the next day, and to see that in person was cool.”
What have you been doing to prepare for your upcoming senior season and, eventually, for when you arrive at UVA?
“We have team workouts two or three days a week,” Shedrick began. “We have strength and conditioning two days a week. I have personal workouts three or four days a week, all with school going on. I’m really trying to work on my jump-shot before the season.”
Has Coach Bennett emphasized anything in particular for you to work on?
“Just the basic stuff [such as getting stronger and working on his overall game],” Shedrick said.
You discussed getting along with the Virginia players. How is your relationship so far with Casey Morsell?
“Casey’s cool,” Shedrick said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know him more, especially getting to UVA and being part of the team.”
A few questions from our posters I didn’t ask in our “Q&A” feature back in August. What is your exact height and weight? Were you measured at UVA?
