Choate Rosemary Hall (Wallingford, CT) class of 2021 offensive tackle Tristan Bounds kicked off his spring break college visit plans with a stop in Charlottesville this past Saturday. Virginia football hosted the 6’8”, 270-pound junior and other top talents on Grounds for a Junior Day recruiting event.

Bounds has been to UVA before. He attended camp last summer and returned to see Virginia defeat Virginia Tech in Scott Stadium last November. This past Saturday afforded the standout offensive lineman the opportunity to spend more time with Virginia coaches, especially head coach Bronco Mendenhall.
Mendenhall met with Bounds and his father for roughly 30 minutes during the Junior Day.
“I was able to talk to Coach Bronco Mendenhall more and spend time with Coach Tujague, be around the staff, and get a feel for what Virginia has to offer,” Bounds said.
Asked how he felt about his latest experience on Grounds, Bounds said: “I felt very comfortable there. I have a good relationship with Coach Tujague, but Coach Mendenhall’s messaging was the primary highlight. He’s passionate about what he does. I like the way he speaks. I also preach the values he preaches, like family and accountability. Those are the things he opens with and they are important to me.”
Bounds called Virginia Offensive Line Coach Garett Tujague a “super down-to-earth guy. Very relatable. I did get to camp there and I like the way he coaches. I think he matches the way I receive and learn information pretty well.”
