Will Bettridge, who Kohl’s Kicking rates as a 5-star prospect and the No. 7 placekicker in the nation in the class of 2022, is closing in on his college decision after concluding a busy month of college visits and camps. The University of Virginia was the most recent stop for the Gulliver Prep (Miami, FL) standout, who also traveled to Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, LSU and Michigan in the month of June.

UVA hosted Bettridge on an official visit this past weekend.

“Definitely loved the visit,” Bettridge said. “It was a great visit and my family and I had a wonderful time. Academically and athletically it fits exactly what I’m looking for and the University can definitely prepare me for my future on and off the field. Felt very comfortable around all the coaches and players I was around.”

A full scholarship offer from Virginia has been on the table since March. UVA, Air Force, Army, Florida International, Morgan State, Navy, and most recently LSU have all offered full rides to the promising prospect.

“They said I have an opportunity to come in and compete as a freshman which definitely is a plus,” Bettridge answered when asked what the message was from Coach Mendenhall and Special Teams Coordinator Ricky Brumfield. “They like that I can make kicks and that I thrive under pressure.”

The LSU offer “meant a lot because I won the competition with a lot of other amazing kickers to get that offer,” Bettridge noted. “Loved my time there and definitely was a great experience.”

Bettridge could announce his college choice as soon as this week. He hopes to have a decision in “early July.” At this point, three schools stand out above the rest.

“Deciding factors would be a place that suits me and my family best,” Bettridge answered when asked what factors are most important in his decision, which he says right now “would be between LSU, UVA, and
