Pro Football Focus provides comprehensive analysis grades for NCAA Division 1 football teams. Following Virginia football’s 43-0 victory over William & Mary, I decided to take a look at PFF to find highlights from the Cavalier program’s first win of 2021. Who stood out for the Hoos in Week 1?

(Note: A Pro Football Focus grade of around 65 is average. The higher the better. A grade in the 70s is above average, while a grade in the 80s and above is very good.)

ACC Co-Quarterback of the Week Brennan Armstrong completed 21-of-31 passes for 339 yards and totaled four touchdowns, including two passing and two rushing. His PFF grades reflected a strong performance. Armstrong received an overall offense grade of 86.4, a pass offense grade of 82.8, and a solid 74.4 grade in the run game.

Armstrong’s passing grade of 86.4 was third among ACC starting quarterbacks, finishing behind Virginia Tech’s Braxton Burmeister (86.8) and Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett (84.9).
