Virginia Football Pledge Will Hardy Reflects On Visit, Discusses Commitment Status

Greater Atlanta Christian (Norcross, GA) senior safety/wide receiver Will Hardy was one of a handful of University of Virginia football class of 2022 commitments on Grounds last Saturday to see the Hoos host then-No. 7 Notre Dame. Since making his commitment to UVA this past April, Hardy has been courted by other schools including North Carolina, which offered a scholarship in August. Following his latest trek to Charlottesville, where does the Peach State standout stand in terms of his recruitment?

“I think I’m pretty set on Virginia. I haven’t seen anything that makes me feel otherwise,” answered Hardy, who attended a UNC game this fall but has only taken one official visit in his recruiting process. It was a trip UVA in June. “Taking [the unofficial visit to UVA last weekend] was good. Even though the outcome wasn’t good, it was awesome meeting the guys in my class in person, like Dakota (Twitty) and all those guys. It was cool to talk to them. Seeing the atmosphere was great. This weekend made me more excited (about UVA).”

Reflecting further on his interaction with UVA recruits and players, Hardy said, “I think Virginia does a great job of recruiting like-minded people. You see it on the entire team. They are all good guys. There is a lot of leadership. They say they can’t wait for me to come be part of the team.”

In addition to ACC Coastal Division rivals Virginia and North Carolina, the consensus 3-star prospect considered scholarship offers from Boston College, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh and Wake Forest, among others. Class of 2022 recruits can sign official letters of intent during the Early Signing Period, which goes from December 15-17, or the Regular Signing Period that begins Wednesday, February 2. Hardy, who says he has no other visit scheduled (aside from a possible return to UVA for the Virginia Tech game) and only plans to host Bronco Mendenhall when in-home visits begin, says he plans to put pen to paper next month.
