There’s a little mystery involved with college baseball for what a roster will look like almost right up to the start of fall ball.

“You really don’t know what your team is going to look like until August 1,” Virginia coach Brian O’Connor said, entering his 22nd season in charge of the Cavaliers.

With the MLB Draft in mid-July and especially now with the NCAA transfer portal open until the beginning of July, there is a long wait to see the final 40-man roster. But in what could have been a large talent drain with this year’s MLB Draft, UVA made it out surprisingly well with both experienced veterans returning to school and more than a few highly-rated high schoolers making it to Grounds.
