Virginia Recruiting Notes: UVA Basketball Active On Trail

Following the London Johnson recruiting miss, the Virginia basketball program got back to work on the class of 2023 recently. Evaluation periods in April provided the opportunity to look closely at some prospects and several exited the month with offers from the Cavaliers.

The priority at initial glance appears to be focused on the wings where shooting guards and small forwards from coast to coast heard from the Hoos. At shooting guard, UVA has handed out 2023 offers in recent days to Freddie Dilione (6’5”, 180) out of Word of God Christian Academy in North Carolina and Taison Chatman (6’3”, 175) out of Totino-Grace in Minnesota. At small forward, TJ Power (6’7”, 210) out of Worcester Academy in Massachusetts and Andrej Stojakovic (6’6”, 185) out of Jesuit High School in California joined the offer list.

Dilione plays for Team Loaded on the AAU circuit and he’s been a rising name this spring. In addition to Virginia, Indiana and NC State are recent programs to offer as well. Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest are other ACC schools showing interest. The services rate him as a 3 star with combo guard potential. He is scheduled for a visit to UVA this weekend.

Chatman plays for D1 Minnesota on the Adidas circuit and coach Tony Bennett had a visit scheduled with him in late April. Many teams in the Midwest have interest in the four-star recruit including Louisville, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Kansas.
