BROOKLYN – With much of the pregame chatter focused on Louisville’s opportunity for revenge after the ‘Hunter Heist’ by Virginia just a week earlier, ESPN’s Jay Williams made a prescient statement just before tip-off: ‘Be careful what you wish for.’

Williams, of course, was making a comment about wanting the No. 1 seed and No. 1 ranked team UVA with its suffocating defense and determined approach to games. Don’t poke the bear – or boa if you prefer – and all of that. The Hoos made Williams look good with a 75-58 win in the ACC Tournament.

In the end, all the talk of payback became the Cardinals’ third worst outing of the year offensively and they allowed 52.5% shooting defensively. In two previous losses to Purdue and Duke, Louisville managed 57 and 56 points while shooting 31.7% and 35.9% respectively. Thursday’s 58 points and 36.7% shooting fit into the same category.

The Double Bonus is back to look at the final game of the three-game sweep against Louisville.
