Virginia Basketball Double Bonus: Wake Forest

The Virginia basketball team took care of business at the John Paul Jones Arena on Tuesday night, drilling Wake Forest 68-43. That pushed the Hoos’ home winning streak to 12 games and marked the 103rd victory at the JPJ in Tony Bennett’s tenure.

The Cavaliers took apart the Demon Deacons with a balanced offensive attack. Five players scored in double figures and the hosts logged assists on 14 of 22 made baskets. Kyle Guy and Jay Huff led the way with 12 points each, while De’Andre Hunter and Mamadi Diakite added 11 each. Ty Jerome closed out the quintet with 10 points.

All five of UVA’s ACC wins have come by double digits and the last four league wins have been by 20+ points. The Double Bonus returns to take a closer look at how the Hoos got their latest lopsided victory.

Virginia’ three main post players in the rotation – not counting Hunter or Braxton Key in small ball lineups – combined for 30 points, 17 rebounds, 4 blocked shots, and 2 steals in the win. The trio made 11 of 20 shots (55%) and 7 of 8 free throws (87.5%) to account for their scoring.
