The Virginia basketball team led late in an ACC battle again this past weekend as it dueled with No. 5 Louisville down to the wire on Saturday. In the end, the Cardinals figured out a way to survive the Cavaliers’ upset hopes, 80-73. The Hoos led 70-68 before a late run by the hosts erased that narrow advantage.

UVA fell to 15-7 overall and 7-5 in the ACC with the loss. Still, the team seems to be making progress. The Wahoos have won four of their last six games and coach Tony Bennett had focused on leaving Louisville as a better team than when UVA arrived.

Woldetensae’s Big Night

UVA put itself in position for a win thanks in part to a big night from Tomas Woldetensae, who lit up the Yum! Center to the tune of 7-of-10 shooting from 3-point range. He also made a shot with his foot on the line as part of 10-of-13 shooting (76.9%) overall. That led to a career-high 27 points for the JUCO transfer.
