The Virginia basketball team sandwiched two home wins around a 17-day pause to get to 4-1 on the season. The most recent victory came Tuesday against William & Mary by a 76-40 margin as UVA led wire to wire. The low rust, low drama performance left fans happy, but filled with questions as a newly scheduled tussle with No. 1 Gonzaga looms this weekend.

The Double Bonus is back to talk hoops.

Do We Know The Rotation?

This didn’t come up in the most recent Best Seat in the House segment, but Luke Neer and I discussed it off air for a couple of minutes. It’s cycled around the message boards a little bit too. So through five games, roughly the quarter pole for this season, have the Hoos solved some of the questions about a rotation for a deep and talented roster?

I think so. At this point, the bookends at point guard and center are obvious. Kihei Clark and Reece Beekman pair up at one spot, while Jay Huff and Kadin Shedrick take care of the minutes in the middle. Tomas Woldetensae, Casey Morsell, Sam Hauser, and Trey Murphy III seem to be in position for solid minutes on the wings. That leaves Justin McKoy in the ninth spot for potential minutes, but he’s been in and out of the lineup through the first five games ranging from a starter to a late sub. Kody Stattmann, Francisco Caffaro, Jabri Abdur-Rahim, and Carson McCorkle appear to be outside the rotation. There may be some debate about Stattmann, but he didn’t play against Kent State (dressed, dnp) and W&M (not dressed, dnp). He had some injury issues last season and missed the Tuesday game and unlike last season, there is so much competition for minutes that it may be hard to claw back into the rotation after missed time.
