Virginia Basketball Double Bonus: Duke

The Virginia basketball team has rolled into February with a three-game winning streak. That included a pair of huge wins against teams ahead of the Hoos in the standings. They took down Miami on Saturday and Duke on Monday for the pair of victories. That means the Double Bonus is back for a double dip.

It’s time for Duke.

The Final Virginia Out Of Bounds Looks

Obviously with the late game road dagger (relive some old UVA classics from the Bennett era here), you have to start at the end. Reece Beekman lined up a corner 3-pointer and drained it to lift Virginia to the 69-68 win. I’m sure many of you have watched it once, twice, a dozen, or a “We don’t talk about Bruno” number of times.

The whole sequence is a great study for the Double Bonus analysis. Prior to that shot, UVA had lined up for an baseline out of bounds play with Kihei Clark as the passer. Nothing opened up, though, so the Hoos called a timeout. So what were they looking for?
