The Virginia basketball continued its strong play at the John Paul Jones Arena on Saturday as it improved to 12-1 at home this season with a 69-62 win against Duke. The Cavaliers are an ACC-leading 84-13 in league home games over the past 11 seasons and they’ve limited 39 consecutive ACC opponents to fewer than 70 points at the JPJ. The Double Bonus returns for a closer look at the latest victory.

Clark At The Rim For Virginia

Virginia senior Kihei Clark came through with a huge performance in his final home game against Duke. He posted 16 points on 7-10 shooting to go with 5 assists. Most importantly, he helped his team get a win to reach 11-4 in ACC play and stay in the race at the top of the ACC standings with Pittsburgh.

Most of those points (6 of his 7 buckets) came via drives to the basket as the 5’10” Clark gave the much taller Blue Devil frontcourt (three players at 6’10” plus played the most minutes) problems. UVA forward Ben Vander Plas said those plays provide a boost for the Hoos.

“He gets a bunch of those a game and that’s easy buckets for us and it’s an energy thing,” Vander Plas said. “He’s so good at those. He knows when to do it. He’s really good at picking his spots and that was big for us.”
