The Virginia football team opened the Bronco Mendenhall era with a disappointing 37-20 loss to Richmond on Saturday.

“We knew Richmond was a good football team,” UVA quarterback Kurt Benkert said. “They’re really good. Obviously it didn’t go the way we thought it would go, but we prepared and we saw their film. They’re a good team.”
