Simple But Deadly

One thing this article series – and The Sampler before it – tries to do is identify some of the bread and butter plays that Virginia uses frequently out of multiple formations. In the past, for example, the power running play out of an inverted wishbone look has been discussed and recently we looked at a way the Hoos disguised that concept.

If that play is one of the go-to running plays, there’s a two receiver combination that certainly qualifies in the passing game. On Saturday against North Carolina, it just so happened to turn into the game’s decisive touchdown when Olamide Zaccheaus turned what’s normally a quick-hitter for positive yards into an 81-yard scoring play.
