Virginia running back Jamari Peacock is no longer listed on the 2020 football roster and 247Sports reported via sources Tuesday that he had entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal. Peacock is entering his final year and may be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer.

Peacock, who joined UVA’s program out of Yulee High School in Florida, appeared in 30 games over three seasons with the Hoos. He has recorded 2 carries and no receptions in his career as he’s spent most of his time as a blocking back and on special teams. Last season, he logged 198 snaps combined between offense (119) and special teams (75).

This is the latest news in an offseason of changes for the running back room. While the Wahoos welcome back leading running back rusher Wayne Taulapapa and high potential sophomore Mike Hollins, Peacock is the third Cavalier to leave the position group this offseason. UVA also has brought in two transfers in Ronnie Walker Jr. from Indiana and Shane Simpson from Towson. Walker joined the program in the spring ,while Simpson made his choice this past weekend. Walker is still waiting for an NCAA transfer waiver so that he doesn’t have to sit out a year. Simpson is immediately eligible as a graduate transfer.

With the turnover at the position, it’s a good time to take a look at what the changes might mean for Virginia this season if the revised schedule due to COVID-19 remains intact.
