Virginia Football: 10 Spring Game Names To Watch

The first spring practice period under first-time head coach Tony Elliott flew by for the Virginia football team. Coordinators Des Kitchings and John Rudzinski began the installation process for new schemes on both sides of the ball. Everyone from veterans like Brennan Armstrong to rookies like Davis Lane Jr. learned the ropes at the same time.

The Cavaliers wrapped up the 15th and final practice at the Blue-White Spring Game, which Blue won 23-0. That scrimmage style practice at Scott Stadium provided one more glimpse at the Hoos before the long summer wait until official preseason work begins in August.

The Spring Game also provided a look at some individuals in action. Here are 10 players I’m interested to monitor once training camp rolls around and into the season.

1. Mike Green, linebacker, 6’4”/233

In the postgame media session Saturday, Coach Elliott described Green as one of the most athletically gifted players on the team, but still working toward using that at an elite level. He pointed Green out as a player with only one foot in with the new staff at the start of the transition. He had called Green out just minutes earlier in the postgame talk to the team as well.
