Ranking Virginia Football’s 2022 Opponents

Now that all 12 games of the Virginia football season have been previewed individually, it is time to compare the matchups. Tough road games early in the season pair with a stretch of home matchups against teams near the top of the ACC in a schedule that is difficult to read and predict.

Here are the 12 matchups for the 2022 season in order from easiest to hardest prior to seeing any of the teams take the field.

Richmond

As the only non-FBS team on Virginia’s schedule, Richmond is the obvious choice to be the easiest matchup of the season. Not only are the Spiders an FCS program, but they are not a particularly good FCS team lately either. While UVA did lose to Richmond back in 2016, the Cavaliers are 5-0 against FCS teams since then, proving that 2016 loss to be a bit of an anomaly.
