Virginia Quarterback Race Won’t Have Quick Answer

The Virginia football team has plenty on its plate when it comes to the offense this spring.

The Hoos want to work on fixes for what landed them in the bottom six nationally for scoring offense. They must integrate a new offensive line coach as Terry Heffernan takes over that role from Garett Tujague. The receivers will continue to walk the healing path after the tragic deaths of Lavel Davis Jr. and Devin Chandler from the position group plus other movement in the room with players departing for pro football dreams and Marques Hagans flipping to Penn State while Adam Mims takes over at UVA.

Then there’s the not so small question that always grabs headlines: who is the starting quarterback?

The answer on that roughly a week into spring practice isn’t clear and it won’t get less murky in the short window that these 15 practices provide. The two most likely candidates are Jay Woolfolk, the backup QB the last two seasons, and Tony Muskett, a Monmouth transfer that came to UVA this semester.
