Jahmeer Carter’s evolution into a defensive anchor for the Virginia football team is a story of hard work and consistency. It’s also a story formed outside of a bright spotlight.

As a defensive tackle, Carter’s efforts often go unnoticed by the average fan, but he doesn’t let that dampen his spirits. In fact, Carter relishes the fact that by extracting the best from himself, he provides opportunities for other guys to get to shine around him.

The Cavalier linebackers, in particular, love that too. UVA LB Trey McDonald,who had a bit of a breakout this spring himself, described it with a smile.
