The long-awaited breakout season finally arrived last fall for Malachi Fields only after wading through learning a new position, injury, and a coaching change. But the Charlottesville native is chasing more heading into his fourth year with the Virginia football team.
“I want to be the best I can in my position,” Fields said.
Fields totaled 58 catches for 811 yards and 5 touchdowns on his way to earning honorable mention All-ACC accolades as a junior. While UVA has had Malik Washington, Dontayvion Wicks, and Keytaon Thompson add their names to the top 10 in program history for single season receiving yards in recent years, those 811 yards still placed Fields in the top 20 as he matched Terrence Wilkins’ total from back in 1998.
