The Virginia football team opened with a solid win and comeback victory in the first two weeks of the season, but couldn’t sustain the momentum at home on Saturday night. The Hoos produced a dud offensively and the defense couldn’t hold on long enough in what turned in to a 27-13 loss to Maryland.

In terms of the counting stats, safety Antonio Clary made the biggest splash with a career-high 14 tackles plus 2 pass breakups while fellow defenders James Jackson and Jonas Sanker added 12 and 11 tackles, respectively. On offense, Anthony Colandrea passed for 247 yards but managed 0 touchdowns with 2 interceptions. Trell Harris led the receivers with 72 receiving yards. Will Bettridge made a pair of field goals and an extra point on special teams.
