CONWAY, S.C. – When the orange speckles of Virginia fans saw Xavier Brown sprinting down the sidelines at Brooks Stadium, one could not contain his excitement for the running back.

“So in the stands, I’m probably acting like I’ve never been there before,” Xavier’s dad Lamont Brown said. “To see your kid at this stage doing great things, I lost my mind.”

Brown had just watched his son rip off a 75-yard gain, the longest run by a UVA player since 2018, and the cherry on top of a long-awaited breakout performance. Xavier Brown’s big day started with a 29-yard carry and when that career-long burst up the sidelines arrived, Brown had more rushing yards than any individual Cavalier in six years.
