The nine Hoos who qualified represent both the men’s and women’s teams. In the field disciplines, Ethan Dabbs (javelin), Claudio Romero (discus), Jacob Lemmon (discus), Maria Deaviz (shot put), and Ashley Anumba (discus) will pursue a title with throws, while Owayne Owens (triple jump) will chase a championship in the sand. On the track, Yasin Sado (3,000 meter steeplechase), Helena Lindsay (3,000-meter steeplechase), and Jada Seaman (200 meters) will compete for crowns.

The Cavaliers qualified through the NCAA East Preliminaries in Indiana. The UVA men’s team enters the meet ranked 24th in the USTFCCCA Track & Field Rating Index.

“I am very pleased with the way our team has competed all season,” Virginia track and field director Vin Lananna said. “Our performances this week are an indicator of how well-rounded a team we have. This week we earned qualifications in a wide variety of events including throwers, sprinters, distance runners and jumpers. We are looking forward to the opportunity to compete in Eugene at the National Championships.”
