Bischoff Commits To Hoos

The University of Virginia football program received a verbal commitment today from 6’5”, 300-pound offensive lineman Ryan Bischoff, a rising senior out of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School (Plymouth Meeting, PA). Bischoff is the second rising class of 2015 prospect to commit to the Hoos, joining Altavista (VA) free safety Juan Thornhill.

Bischoff had the interest of several other major FBS programs including Penn State and Rutgers, but to this point Virginia was the only school to offer a scholarship. The Keystone State standout attended UVa’s Junior Day event on March 1 of this year.

Bischoff primarily plays right offensive tackle for head coach Dan Chang, but he did see some action at left tackle his junior season. He helped the Colonials to 17 wins and back-to-back Suburban One American Conference championships the past two seasons. PW has won three straight conference titles and has gone undefeated in conference play in the process.

Today’s development gives UVa a commitment at a position of need. The offensive line has been and will continue to be a strong focus of the Virginia coaches in this class, and I expect the Hoos to try and sign five offensive line recruits when all is said and done. As I wrote in a recent “Strategy Session” on offense, UVa has offered more prospects on the offensive line than any other position in this class.

Including Bischoff, here is the new scholarship projection for the offensive line in the 2015 season.

Seniors: Ross Burbank (OG), Jay Whitmire (OT)
Juniors: Ryan Doull (OG), Sean Karl (OG), Michael Mooney (OT), Sadiq Olanrewaju (OT), Eric Smith (OT), Eric Tetlow (C)
Sophomores: George Adeosun (OG), Jack McDonald (OG)
2014 Class Recruits: Jake Fieler (OT), Steven Moss (OG)
2015 Class Recruits: Ryan Bischoff (OT/OG)

  1. Bischoff is a good get for the football program. I attended Centralbucks HS in Doylestown PA.
Lots of upper middle class kids, like myself who fit the UVa academic profile, with competive
    football programs.
