Junior London Perrantes has been a mainstay in Virginia’s starting lineup since arriving in Charlottesville. He has started 65 of the 69 games he’s played as a Cavalier. The Hoos have rattled off a 60-11 record during his two years in the orange and blue.

Along the way, fans have grown to love his demeanor on the floor and his deft touch in organizing the offense. Perrantes remains calm out there and his assist-to-turnover ratio (288-89) causes most to marvel. Cali cool, he’s described, by way of his Los Angeles roots.

Yet, mixed in with that determined and seemingly unwavering exterior last season was something that all athletes experience at times: a battle for confidence. Perrantes saw his 3-point shooting percentage dip from 43.7% as a freshman to 31.6% as a sophomore so as he tried to figure out when to take shots.

“I feel like last year during the offseason, I kind of got hurt and I feel like it messed up my rhythm and confidence a little bit,” Perrantes said. “I’m not going to blame it on that, but I just feel like I’ve definitely been getting a lot of reps up. Being able to shoot it with confidence and people instilling confidence in me and the reps will help me as well.”
