The Cavaliers can’t seem to stop the snowball effect in games. ~ Mike Ingalls – TheSabre.com

The snowball effect.

Of all the things troubling the Virginia football program these days, one of the most glaring is the resilience to in-game adversity. When things go wrong, they really go wrong. JHoo and I have both mentioned the defense’s troubles with sudden change situations this season for example. When the offense commits a turnover, the defense just hasn’t been able to consistently provide a tourniquet to limit the damage. That’s not the only thing that fits the bill, though. The offense can’t snap strings of three-and-outs to get back on track. The defense just misses a play – like Anthony Harris’ woulda-coulda-shoulda interception this weekend – and then can’t recover.

The special teams misses a field goal and …

On and on and on … the snowball effect. The bad energy gets rolling and no one can stop it until the whole team is left with its hands and heads sticking out of a giant snowball with frowns on everyone’s faces.
