Another week, another loss, and this one was different once again. But this week, it was different in a … dare I say it? … better way.

A Game Thing

This is going to sound strange … but I was encouraged by what I saw on the field from the Hoos this past Saturday.

Yes, I’m serious. Really.

To understand where I am coming from, you first have to understand that I thought there was very little chance that the Virginia defense was going to be the least bit effective stopping the Georgia Tech offense. UVa started six true freshmen on Saturday, and four of those players were on defense. The Hoos were without arguably their best defensive player in Brent Urban, and were without both of their starting cornerbacks, this in a defense that is predicated on quality man-to-man play from the cornerbacks. One of UVa’s best linebackers essentially was playing with one arm. One of the Cavaliers’ best pass rushers had a hand in a cast.
