Where have you gone Joe, Wahoo nation turns its lonely eyes to you.

Like the iconic DiMaggio lines from Simon & Garfunkel, Cavalier fans have been a bit wistful in the season’s early stages when it comes to senior Joe Harris. After recording just four games last season with single-digit scoring, after all, Harris already has two contests with less than 10 points this season. Should anyone be too concerned, though?

Likely not. UVa coach Tony Bennett indicated after the Davidson win on Saturday that between opponents focusing the defensive effort on Harris and the Hoos’ desires to build a more balanced and dangerous attack, things are going to need time to gel. Bennett noted that his squad outscored the Wildcats 36-8 in the paint and 31-3 off the bench in the 70-57 win.

“He’s gotta keep working to get open, to get good looks, to try to impact the game in other ways. If you just say, ‘Well, I gotta be aggressive,’ and you’re a bull in a china shop, that’s not the answer. You have to be assertive with control. … You gotta still let it come, but you can’t become passive. So he’s finding that,” Bennett said before adding: “Joe’s just got to keep working and finding himself. He’ll be fine I believe. That’s what’s different maybe this year than last year if we keep improving.”
