I don’t want to talk about quarterbacks, who should start controversies, big plays allowed by the defense, turnovers, or the frustrations of another loss.
So guess what? I’m not going to this time. Instead, I’m going to spend the lead-in space for The Monday Sampler focused on something that went right in Saturday’s game: true freshman Taquan Mizzell’s first career touchdown.
Mizzell has battled some injury issues this season, but it was good to see him finally reach the end zone in the fourth quarter when he caught a pass on 3rd-and-7 from 10 yards out. He later added a 7-yard touchdown run too.
What worked so well on Mizzell’s touchdown catch? The Cavaliers had well-designed pass pattern combinations that matched up perfectly with Miami’s defensive call on the play.
