As I watched the ESPNU broadcast of the game Sunday, one of the commentators made a very profound statement after one of Virginia’s many mistakes.

“There’s a reason you’re 2-9.”

Respectfully Mr. Commentator, there are ‘numerous’ reasons why Virginia is now 2-10 and as Kris Wright noted in his Monday Sampler those reasons will be analyzed over the next few weeks. The bad news is there’s lots of material to analyze.

This game was really no different from many Virginia games this season as the defense played well in limiting to Hokies to a modest 364 yards of total offense and by holding VT to its fourth lowest point total of the season. But that effort could simply not overcome what has plagued the Cavaliers all season with inconsistent special teams and inept offensive play.
