Double Bonus 2013-2014: Virginia Tech 1

The Virginia men’s basketball team cruised past Virginia Tech on Saturday, 65-45. In reading some of the recaps about the game, I thought Jeff White at VirginiaSports.com led with an excellent point. He wrote: “The drama and tension typically associated with games between bitter rivals were conspicuously absent Saturday at John Paul Jones Arena.”

Simply put, the game was a bit of ho hum affair because the Hoos dominated the Hokies. Of course, that’s been the tale in all six of Virginia’s ACC wins to date. The Cavaliers have led by at least 20 points in all six of those victories. It’s been a crazy start to conference play and it seems likely that many long-time Hoo fans are pinching themselves and holding their breath with two road games up next.

Still, a stress-free and convincing win against the in-state rivals from Blacksburg? Good times! The Double Bonus series takes a look at the victory.
