Sophomore post player Anthony Gill has hit his stride in March and that’s provided a huge boost for the Cavaliers. Gill has rattled off five straight games with double figures, the longest streak of his career. He has averaged 14 points and 4.8 rebounds per game over the five-game span.

Gill proved critical in the NCAA opener against Coastal Carolina. He recorded 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting and added 5 rebounds in the win against the Chanticleers. He started slowly when he made just 1 of his first 4 shots and committed a turnover. Once he got it going late in the first half, however, CC simply didn’t have an answer for him. Gill made the rest of his attempts in the game and poured in 10 points in the second half as Virginia took control.

“My teammates, they trust me and they look for me whenever I am posting up. And I appreciate that a lot,” Gill said. “I’m not sure [what was different in the second half]. I guess I was just cutting harder in the second half because in the first half we weren’t getting the offense that we really wanted to.”
