Moments after Virginia completed its Spring Game on Saturday, football coach Mike London was not ready to name a starting quarterback.
“We’ll make that decision when all the opportunities to evaluate these guys present themselves,” London said.
The elephant in the room, however, already had a seat.
Redshirt sophomore Greyson Lambert, who spent the 2013 season as the program’s back-up quarterback, pulled the proverbial pachyderm in with a strong winter program, a step up in the spring, and a good Spring Game. Lambert took most of the snaps with the first group of linemen and skill players for much of the spring, while also earning him a captain slot as voted by the players. Lambert also remained on the team’s coach-appointed leadership council.
