Virginia defensive back Tim Harris wasn’t expected to start many games as a true freshman last season, but injuries shuffled the secondary and thrust Harris into a major role down the stretch in 2013. After Demetrious Nicholson suffered a season-ending injury against Ball State, Harris made his first career start against Maryland and he ended up with seven starts on the season. Harris finished with 26 tackles on the season.

TheSabre.com caught up with Harris during the first week of practice for a “Quick Take” on training camp, his first year at UVa, and more.

Kris: Three days of camp and in pads finally, are you excited about how things are going?

Harris: Very excited. I feel like different than last year, we’ve come out here more as a team and as a unit getting things done. Not only on defense, but on the offensive side of the ball. We’re just going head to head and looking good right now.
