With football season fast approaching, the Hoo Preview will provide some opponent snapshots in the coming days.

Kent State travels to Charlottesville to wrap up September. The game on the 27th will have a start time announced at a later date. The Golden Flashes are coming off a 4-8 campaign as they enter the second year of coach Paul Haynes. He worked as a defensive coordinator at Ohio State and Arkansas prior to taking his first head coaching gig at his alma mater.

Kent State will open the season with a task much larger than football, though. Jason Bitsko, who was penciled in to start at center this fall, was found dead in his apartment on Wednesday. “Our players, coaches and everyone involved with our team are hurting because he was family,” coach Paul Haynes said. “As a team, we will come together and get through this one day at a time.”

Beyond that tragic news, the Flashes will be trying to turn around a tough 2013 season that saw the team struggle with scoring on offense and stopping the run on defense. More information on Kent State follows.
