The Virginia football team wraps up its home schedule with a Saturday night showdown against Miami. The two teams played a thriller the last time they matched up in Charlottesville as the Cavaliers prevailed 41-40. Is a similar high-scoring duel in the works this season or will the defenses dictate the outcome?

Let’s break down the Hurricanes.

Where’s Walford?

In the last breakdown article for the Florida State game, some of the focus tilted toward tight end Nick O’Leary. The Cavaliers shut out O’Leary in the loss, but receiver Rashad Greene posted 13 receptions. The Hurricanes have a similar dynamic duo in tight end Clive Walford and receiver Phillip Dorsett. Walford leads the team with 33 receptions and 522 yards, while Dorsett leads the team with 662 yards on 23 receptions. Both players have seven touchdowns.

Considering Virginia’s trouble with receivers this season – eight players with at least 75 yards – Dorsett is worrisome because of his ability to go deep or to turn something over the middle into a long catch-and-run play. It seems likely based on previous opponents that Dorsett will find a way to make some plays. He had six catches for 103 yards and one touchdown the last time he played in Charlottesville.
