The Virginia receiving corps put together one of the unit’s best seasons of the Mike London era last fall. Canaan Severin set the tone there as the team’s leader in receptions, yards, and touchdowns, but eight different players contributed to the production.

In the end, those eight players – Canaan Severin, Darius Jennings, Miles Gooch, Doni Dowling, Andre Levrone, Keeon Johnson, Kyle Dockins, and Jamil Kamara – combined for 144 catches. That ranked third in London’s five seasons: 153 (2010), 152 (2011), 144 (2014), 140 (2012), and 118 (2011). The 12 catches per game average for receivers was the best since London’s first season when the position tallied 12.75 receptions per game: 12.75 (2010), 12 (2014), 11.7 (2011), 11.7 (2012), and 9.8 (2013). With 11 touchdown catches, the receivers posted the unit’s highest total since 2012: 14 (2012), 11 (2014), 9 (2010), 8 (2011), and 5 (2013).

Severin led the team with 42 receptions, 578 yards, and 5 touchdown catches. That marked the first time since Kris Burd’s 2011 season that a receiver led (or tied for the lead) in all three categories. The combination of Burd and Dontrelle Inman also led all three categories in 2010. Jennings came close in 2012 when he led the team in receiving yards and touchdowns (tied), but Perry Jones led the team in receptions as a running back.

Of course, Severin also flashed some playmaking ability with catches like his diving touchdown grab against Miami:
