At “The Opening: D.C.” held at Centreville High School (Clifton, VA) on April 19, Centreville head coach Chris Haddock predicted that “people will be blowing up on [Christian Brooks] in the next couple of weeks.”

Haddock, who has guided the Wildcats to back-to-back state championship appearances including the 2013 6A state title, was right on about Brooks, a 6’5”, 230-pound junior defensive end. Miami, Old Dominion, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati and Connecticut have offered scholarships since “The Opening,” joining fellow FBS programs UVa and Nevada.

Christian Brooks, he’s looking really good right now,” Haddock said. “He’s a really good looking kid. He’s a great kid, good student, all those things. I think he’s poised to have a big year for us. Last year he played on the D-line. We’ll probably have him do a little bit on offense as well this year, maybe some tight end because he has got enough athleticism to do that.”

Brooks should weigh around 245 pounds by the start of the 2015 season, Haddock estimates. The standout prospect’s size gives him several options in terms of position on the major college level.
