Justice Bartley had decided to attend Columbia University. After falling “a point or two short” on the ACT of gaining admission there, though, he was left exploring other options. This summer, the options were down to two.

UNLV offered the 6’5″, 209-pound guard an opportunity to walk on this fall and go on scholarship next spring. The University of Virginia offered the former Montrose Christian (Rockville, MD) team captain a recruited walk-on opportunity with no guarantee of a scholarship. He chose the latter and seems very happy with his decision.

“I came on a visit here during the summer time and the one thing that stuck out to me immediately was the brotherhood that we have here,” Bartley said. “Everyone’s trying to encourage one another. The coaching staff is really great. The vibe I got from being around the team and the coaching staff is what made my decision to come here.”

“I really like that here at UVa that we’re all a family,” he added. “There’s a sense of comfort I get being here. It’s not awkward. Moving up north to Maryland, you don’t get that a lot. I guess it’s the southern hospitality. It reminds me of Georgia.”
