Avalon (Gaithersburg, MD) rising senior outside linebacker/wide receiver Noah Taylor was back on Grounds on February 15, in attendance for a Junior Day recruiting event hosted by head coach Bronco Mendenhall and company. The experience was a positive one for Taylor, who is currently the Wahoos’ lone verbal commitment in the class of 2018.
“My recent visit to Charlottesville was amazing,” Taylor wrote in an interview via Twitter direct message. “All the love I get from coaches and fans is outstanding. My relationship with Coach Pop (outside linebackers coach Kelly Poppinga), Bronco and the other coaches is growing much more as I get closer to being a Cavalier.”
A verbal commitment is not official, of course. And like most programs, Virginia was dealt several de-commitments in the 2017 Class. Taylor tweeted recently that Indiana has now offered a scholarship. It’s no surprise to see other schools expressing interest, but what does the new interest mean to Taylor? Is the tweet an indication he may be considering other schools?
“Getting these other offers means nothing,” answered the 6’5”, 190-pound prospect, who is being recruited by Mendenhall to play outside linebacker. “Charlottesville is becoming home.”
